The Marginalia Press is a reading guide to classic literature. It answers the practical questions that come before and after you open a classic: which book to start with, in what order to read an author, which edition or translation to buy, and whether to read it in print or listen to it.

The site is organized into hubs. Each hub covers one broad area and links to shorter guides on specific books, authors, series and formats:

- Best audiobooks: the audiobooks, apps and subscriptions worth your time, plus collectible editions.

How the guides are put together
Every guide starts from the questions readers actually search for. Publication dates, translators, series details and edition contents are checked against publishers, libraries and standard reference works before they go on a page. When a point is disputed, the guide says so instead of picking a side. The site does not invent ratings, test results or personal reading anecdotes.
Recommendations favor books that a first-time reader can finish. Where a famous book is hard going, the guide says that too and suggests a better first step.
How the site is funded
Some roundup pages link to specific editions at a retailer. How that works is explained on the affiliate disclosure page. It never changes which books a guide recommends, and most classics are also available free from public-domain libraries, which the guides point out.
